Mount & Blade

Mount & Blade is a game made by Taleworlds (www.taleworlds.com) that plays on a world map, where your avatar and his army(recruited by mercenaries or from villages) move on. You can equip your character with a variety of weaponry, from bows and arrows to greatswords and bastard(lol) swords. Combat is what's interesting, especially while on a mount. Combat works by choosing a direction, up, left, right, or thrust by moving your mouse a certain direction when near an enemy. You then hold down and strike with your sword or spear for damage, and while on a mount you can deal extra damage with polearms. Archery works a bit like an FPS or TPS, only is horribly inaccurate except when standing still. The world map is great, and there are lots of things to do- raid villages, attempt to take over castles, do quests for faction leaders, or just wander around killing bandits. Hey, if so inclined, you can even go from town to town selling trade goods. Now, where this game really shines, though, is modifications. There are loads of well-made mods, from a Star Wars mod, to a mod that simply adds better graphics or guns. Although it doesn't have the best graphics, top notch gameplay and limitless possibilities lead for an extremely fun time. A demo is available that lets you play until level 6, and then you have to buy it or start over.

Summary:
Story: 0/10 There is no story, it's open ended.. create your own saga!
Sfx: 4/10 The most you get is a grunt or a swinging of a sword.
Graphics: 6/10 Good enough that it can run on older systems well.
Single Player: 10/10 The best part of the game, and where all the awesomeness is.
Multi Player: -/10 There is no multiplayer.
Gameplay: 9/10 Great swordfighting, although archery is a bit meh. It's fun when you land a headshot and he drops with an arrow sticking out of his neck, though.

Overall: 9/10
